The Department of Early Childhood is thrilled to announce the release of our 2024 Annual Impact Report. Every year has been exciting, but this year, we are celebrating a truly remarkable milestone: a major rebound in kindergarten readiness for children entering school in San Francisco. Children are now entering kindergarten significantly better prepared to succeed since the Department of Early Childhood launched.
We have much to celebrate this year as we highlight our significant progress and achievements.
- We expanded access to high-quality early learning, benefiting more families and children.
- We strengthened family support initiatives and provided essential resources to those seeking support.
- Our strategic investments in Early Learning, Child Health, and Family Strength created a lasting positive impact on the community.
Our 2024 annual impact report shares many key data highlights and celebrates these successes. “Every child in San Francisco deserves a strong start, and this report shows the real progress we are making to ensure that happens,” said Daniel Lurie, mayor of the City and County of San Francisco. “Investing in early childhood education is one of the smartest things we can do—not just for our kids, but for the future of our city.”
