Ingrid X. Mezquita, Executive Director

As Director of the Department of Early Childhood, Ingrid X. Mezquita brings over 25 years of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors. She is passionate about promoting fairness and positive changes and is committed to improving the City’s early childhood system by focusing on equity and systems change. Ingrid grew up in the Mission district of San Francisco, the child of immigrant parents with Salvadorian roots.

Ingrid has previously served as the Director of the San Francisco Office of Early Care and Education and the Executive Director of First 5 San Francisco. Her primary focus has been to reduce racial disparities in early childhood programming. In addition to her expertise in policy and strategy, Ingrid has developed and managed several programs that serve children and families across San Francisco. Her dedication to equity and passion for early childhood education make her a valuable community leader.

When she’s not busy improving the lives of the City’s children and their families, Ingrid loves spending time with her family, especially her young granddaughters. Ingrid holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
