Announcing Exciting Changes for Our Family Resource Center Initiative

DEC is proud to announce the commencement of a new funding cycle for our Family Resource Center Initiative! The Family Resource Center Initiative provides essential resources and support for families of young children in San Francisco. It is a collaborative effort involving various organizations and agencies focused on ensuring the well-being and success of families and children. For families, accessing these services is as simple as walking in the door of one of the family resource centers (FRCs) located throughout San Francisco.

Over the past ten years, we have witnessed the remarkable dedication and impact the FRC community has brought to the initiative in serving families across San Francisco.

Today, we stand at an exciting juncture as we build upon this legacy and embark on the journey of the next ten years, aiming to elevate our impact and reach even more families. We are proud to be adding new service areas that will better support San Francisco’s neighborhoods and populations:

  • Treasure Island will be served by Glide FRC, which also serves the Tenderloin/Mid-Market neighborhood
  • Mission Bay will be served by the South of Market FRC, which also serves the SOMA neighborhood
  • Outer Parkside will be served by Wah Mei FRC, which also serves the Sunset neighborhood.
  • A new FRC, led by Family Connections Centers in collaboration with FACES SF, will serve Visitacion Valley. Visitacion Valley is also served by the Visitacion Valley Strong Families Collaborative FRC.

Families across San Francisco can easily access warm and welcoming services right in their neighborhood. In addition, the Family Resource Center Initiative also includes FRCs focused on the unique needs of specific populations, including families experiencing homelessness, teen parents, parents of children with disabilities, and others.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees of this funding cycle. Their unwavering commitment and innovative approaches have contributed immensely to the success of our Family Resource Center Initiative, and we are excited to see how their continued efforts will shape the future of our collective mission.

The FRCI is funded by the Department of Early Childhood, the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families, and the San Francisco Human Services Agency.
